Randall Street takes household paint, stain and solvents on weekends. Line up heading south on Randall Street, since left turns in may be blocked in heavy traffic. Check for closures before a long drive.
Hyperion serves the coast, Gaffey the Harbor area and UCLA the Westside, including Fridays. Glendale is handy for central and northeast LA, but the directory says open while a city flyer says closed. Confirm it has reopened first.
Businesses use the very small business program, by appointment, priced by waste type and amount. The limit is 220 pounds or 27 gallons a month; most need a California EPA ID. Locations rotate: Gaffey the first Wednesday, Washington the second, Hyperion the third, Randall the fourth. Call 310-387-1071 to qualify and get a price first. PaintCare may also take house paint.
Take household paint and solvents to a free S.A.F.E. center: Randall in the Valley, Hyperion on the coast, Gaffey in the Harbor area or UCLA on the Westside. The limit is 15 gallons or 125 pounds per visit. Check whether Glendale is open first.
Los Angeles has several weekend S.A.F.E. centers plus county events. Pick the nearest one before you cross town.
For labeled house paint alone, a PaintCare store may be easiest. With thinner, turpentine or other chemicals, use a S.A.F.E. center or county event.
UCLA is open Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays. Hyperion uses Gate B, needs ID for security, and the line starts on Vista del Mar. The center cards show these details.
County hazardous waste events are another free household option, not open to businesses. A stockpile of 100+ gallons, counted by can size, may qualify for free PaintCare pickup.

Pack labeled products in a sturdy box. Stay in your car, engine off, while staff unload, and don't smoke. Contractor waste goes to a business program, so tell staff where yours came from.
Full preparation checklist →No. Use the small-business service. Randall Street takes business waste by appointment, for a fee.
No. The county lists Los Angeles–Glendale as Saturday only. Check your center.
Location and schedule differ. UCLA opens Fridays, Hyperion has a security gate, and Glendale's status is unclear. Mixed chemicals go to a S.A.F.E. center; a paint store works only if it still takes paint and has room.
Closure dates come from UCLA's 2026 calendar; other winter notices give no year. Glendale says "check first" because the directory and a 2026 city flyer disagree.
