THE LOCAL ANSWERTake liquid paint to Los Reales, 5300 E. Los Reales Rd., Thursday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with your driver's license or utility bill. You can bring up to 25 gallons; it's free for City of Tucson residents and $15 for nearby towns and unincorporated Pima County. The city's fall 2026 events are October 10 at the Rodeo Grounds, November 14 at Eastside City Hall and December 12 at Pima Community College West.
Tucson takes liquid paint at the Los Reales Sustainability Campus three days a week, plus monthly Saturday events. It's free for city residents. Dried paint goes in the trash.
Don't go to Los Reales on the 2nd Saturday
Los Reales is closed on the 2nd Saturday of each month, because that's when the city holds its community collection event somewhere else. The city's fall 2026 dates are October 10 (Rodeo Grounds, 4823 S. 6th Ave., enter on 3rd Avenue), November 14 (Eastside City Hall) and December 12 (PCC West). In summer, Los Reales stays open on the 2nd Saturday.
Liquid paint only; dried paint goes in the trash
The city's list says liquid paint only, with a 25-gallon limit. Dry paint can go in the trash. If a can is mostly dried out, finish drying it and toss it instead of driving it to Los Reales.
Outside city limits? Bring $15
Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita and unincorporated Pima County residents pay $15 per drop-off. Older listings, including PaintCare's, still say $10. The city's own pages now say $15.
Painting contractors use a different program
Business paint isn't taken at the household sites. The city sends businesses to its Small Business Waste Assistance Program. Call Environmental Services at 520-791-3171.
